We love the Can Am Commander, and we’re very excited about the recent introduction of the Commander Max four seater. If you like the idea of carting four or five people around in your Commander but you’d like to retain your Commander’s convenient wheelbase or you’re just too cheap to spring for the new Commander Max, adding a rear seat to your Commander is another way to go. There are a few rear seat options currently available that also integrate a rear cage extension to keep your rear passengers in one piece in the unfortunate event of a rollover. A rear seat is easily one of the most useful Can Am Commander accessories you can add to your vehicle.
UTV Mountain Accessories makes almost exclusively rear seats for the Commander and other UTV models. The Commander rear seat package includes a 42” black vinyl seat that comfortably seats two people. A three person bench seat is also available. Two black 4 point harnesses OR two lap belts are also included, as is a full bolt-on cage extension that is powder-coated textured black to match the Commander’s cage. Each cage and rear seat combination is easy to install with basic hand tools in about 2-3 hours, but due to the bulk of the seat and the cage extension, this is definately a two man job, so get a friend committed to an afternoon before you undertake the installation. For another $200, you can get a complete soft top that covers the entire stock cage and cage extension.
Triple X is a seating legend in the UTV world, and their rear seat for the Commander was custom-designed for the vehicle. This super-wide bench seat comes in black vinyl with yellow or red trim and double stitching throughout. This bench seat is large enough for two full size adults or three children. Twisted Stitch sells this seat for a very reasonable $349.95 plus $159.95 for the seat mount, and this seat is versatile enough to use with most available cage extensions.
