Becoming More Eco-friendly
It is important to teach kids that they should be more Eco-friendly and environmentally responsible from an early age. Also, they should be thought that it is not a lot of effort nor does it require a lot of investment. And of course, many things could be done at home where they should learn how to be more eco-friendly.
As soon as your kids learn to be more responsible and to respect their environment the better for them, as they will be able to use that knowledge throughout their whole life. Moreover, they will be more conscious about their health and lifestyle.
Teach to Recycle
The best and most important to teach our kids is to reduce, reuse and recycle waste. It is important to reduce on wasteful materials and behavior, after all we want to teach them to be more sustainable and environmentally responsible.
By recycling we can teach them to reuse old toys and clothes or even items around the house to create something creative. Moreover, explain how important recycling is for planet, and how a little bit can go a long way. Moreover, teach them to donate their old toys and old clothes if they cannot be used anymore.
Unplug Your Devices
Your kids should learn that turning off appliances and devices is not enough and that even in standby those things are using a lot of energy. Moreover, turning off light switches when nobody is in the room is also important. Not only will you be able to save some money on the energy bill but you will prepare your kids to do the same when they get older as well.
Furthermore, it is essential that you explain that cell phone chargers and other chargers should not be left in the outlet once the charging is complete.
Organic Clothing
Although for now it seems that organic clothing isn’t that available, it is important that you teach your kids to choose organic and all natural fibers instead of synthetic. There are many smart and healthy choices, starting from clothes made from organic cotton and hemp, to bamboo clothing. As these clothes are produced from eco-friendly sources it is helping save the environment and will not endanger the already dwindling resources.
Saving Water
By using simple tricks like turning off the tap when brushing their teeth, or washing their bikes with a bucket and sponge instead of a hose, it will be enough to save some money on the water bill and to help your kids become more sustainable.
Planting a Tree
Perhaps the most Eco-friendly thing that they could learn is to plant trees or to tend little green gardens, not only will they learn how to take care of greens properly, but they will also learn proper responsibility and that by planting a tree every now and then, they will be helping keep the air clean and the environment safer.
Remember that kids tend to mirror what their parents do, so be a good role model and show them what they need to do.
